DA candidate speaks Spanish
Re: "John Walsh for District Attorney," July 25 editorial.
As a supporter of John Walsh as the best candidate to succeed Bill Ritter as Denver's district attorney, I was very pleased to see The Denver Post's endorsement of Walsh.
However, The Post failed to note that Walsh speaks Spanish. As a law professor and lawyer, I have worked in many Denver neighborhoods. Right now, the criminal justice system in Denver fails to communicate effectively with the city's Spanish speakers. Walsh's language skills will help to bridge this cultural gap, thereby benefiting all of the city's residents.
